A Road Map to Google Ads/Adwords/Adsense

Introduction

Google is a very big platform. It has nearly 2.9 billion unique monthly visitors and 5 billion daily interactions. Using Google platforms for your business can be very beneficial for you, it gives a very large amount of reach. Google Ads is one of the paid platforms of Google which lets you put advertisements on it and its associated platforms. Google Ads is an paid online advertising platform that was launched on 23rd October 2000 as Google Ad-words and in 2018 it was renamed to Google Ads. You can put a Google ad of your choice based on your objective behind that ad. You can put video as well as image ads.

The Google Ads Road-map

  • First things first – Start with basics

Whenever you start anything new, it is very important to first learn the basics. Same goes for Google Ads. Learn and understand what things are required to make an ad like keywords, bid, conversion, target audience, budget, Click-Through Rate (CTR), quality score, objectives or goals, etc

  • Set up your account

After knowing about the basics, set up your Google Ads account. If you already have an account then you can sign in or else create a new one. Put all the details properly in the login process. Put your business details – name and website.

  • Prepare Ads copy

Understand what things are included in the Ads like Graphics(images and videos), content, Target audience, location, Budget amount, bidding strategy, goals/objectives, CTA (call to action) button, etc. Before making the ad, make its ad copy so that everything will be ready with you before putting your ad on Google.

  • Go on new campaign

The next step in this road-map is to go to the beginning of preparing the campaign. You have to click on “New Campaign” from the “plus(+)” symbol on the dashboard. By clicking on the “+” symbol your campaign will get started. In the next step you have to choose a goal and type.

  • Set ad Objective/goal and ad type

There are a lot of options when it comes to setting your objective and ad type. Objective options – Sales, LeAds, Website Traffic, Product and Brand consideration, Brand Awareness and reach, App promotion, Local Store visit and promotions and No goal campaign type. Ad types – Search, Display, Performance Max, Shopping, Video, App, Smart and Discovery. Each objective and ad type has a different use of it. So first you should decide what you want from the ad and choose objectives and goals accordingly.

  • Put Campaign name

Give a name to your campaign suitable to the ad type and objective you have selected in the previous step.

  • Enter your Budget and bidding type

You have to enter the budget amount for your ad. There are 2 types here – daily budget(on a daily basis) and lifetime budget(for the whole ad campaign). You can choose any bidding strategy based on your ad type – conversion and impression.

  • Select the ad location

Based on your Ad requirements, products and services, you can choose the location where you want to show your Ads. Along with this if you want to exclude a particular location from any region selected then that can also be done. There are no geographical boundaries when it comes to Google Ads.

  • Choose your target audience

Google Ads gives you this advantage to choose your target audience by going very niche. You can choose the audience based on various criterias like – Audience segments, demographics ( gender, age, household income and parental status), topics ( finance, arts  and entertainment, health, games, shopping, property, science and many more).

  • Select Keywords to target

This is a very crucial part of all Ads. Choosing the right keywords will show your Ads to the right people. You can put your own keywords or also use suggested keywords by Google itself. For more keyword ideas put your website link in the text box and Google will automatically suggest you more keywords based on the information on your website.

  • Put other ad details/message

Along with above mentioned details there are many more things you have to put in your Ad like Language, Start date and time, End date and time, Graphics, Headline, Description, Site links, CTA(call to action) buttons, etc.

  • Preparing your ad’s landing page

When someone views your ad and wants to go to the further step so for that you need to add some CTA(call to action) button to your Ad. And when someone clicks on your CTA button there should be some page where the viewer will land and get more information about your business. This page is called a landing page and it is very important in this Ads process.

  • Make the payments

Once you are done with all the above mentioned steps then you can do the payments for the Ad so that it can run. Choose the correct amount and correct mode of payment.

  • Cross check all details

After completion of all the details, do cross check all things before you click the publish button. Many times it happens that we by mistake missed to add some detail in the Ad content so when we cross check you can add these things.

  • Test the Ads and make changes

Once you publish the Ad and it runs, you will start getting its insights. Then you test and compare the results with the expectations. If results match the expectations or exceeds, then that is good but if it is less than you can make some changes and later see if it works well.

Conclusion

Google Ads is a very beneficial platform in order to promote your goods and services through doing Ads here. It is in paid form but the results are worth it if you use proper details in the ad’s content and also use attractive graphics and perfect keywords with a good CTA (Call To Action) button and of course correct objective and ad type according to your Ad requirements.
